Marrying an insatiably catchy brand of ’00’s alternative rock with a dark aesthetic and gripping emo intonations, Michigan’s PlainView have dropped their new single, “Little Miss Sickening.”
“I didn’t realize it at the time, but I think at its core, ‘Little Miss Sickening’ is a song about addiction. Not necessarily in a chemical sense, but addiction to certain behaviors or attitudes,” shares vocalist Andrew Momeyer.
“Despite writing this song from a place of struggle, we wanted it to feel like the start of a climb back up from the bottom,” continues Momeyer. “We spent a lot of time talking about the drums. When Ryan first showed us the drum fill coming into the second chorus, we all lost our minds! It flowed so naturally, it was little moments like that which help keep the song fresh.”
With a soundscape that marries driving guitars, soaring melodic injections, and a throwback emo aesthetic, PlainView nod to some of the breakout genre heavyweights of the 00s, whilst delivering with unerringly contemporary musicianship.
Last year’s Nightlife EP caught the imagination of alternative rock fans, propelling the band to state-wide recognition and hitting a raft of regional Billboard charts in the process.
Known for their atmospheric and immersive live performances, the Midwest crew have wowed live fans across the state on a string of headliners, as well as supporting national acts such as Hot Milk and Boys of Fall. Appearances at Inkarceration and Blue Ridge Rock Festival have cemented PlainView’s reputation as an unmissable live act.
Following on from June’s haunting tale of love and sacrifice, “His & Hearse,” “Little Miss Sickening” is another gripping and atmospheric brand of heart-on-sleeve alternative rock from PlainView, a band crafting the perfect blend of throwback and contemporary, with their emo-tinted alternative rock.
