News: Planes Mistaken For Stars are Back to Honor Gared O’Donnel

Planes Mistaken For Stars

Planes Mistaken For Stars have officially announced that a new album, Do You Still Love Me, is set to be released November 1. The band’s last release was in 2016, and after nearly a decade, they have decided to execute this release that is also a final and bitter farewell to frontman Gared O’Donnel. “Fix Me,” the first single off the album, was released this week and carries with it a deeply sentimental tone.

O’Donnel passed away in 2021 as a result of a cancer diagnosis that he battled amidst the recording of the album. The emotional toll this experience took on the band was not something they shied away from, pouring their laments into the music. “Fix Me” sets the scene for an album that will be sure to yank on your heartstrings, offering an incredible insight into these longtime friends’ journey of composing while in their most vulnerable states.

What is both an homage to his extended legacy as a musician and a parting bequest to his fans, Do You Still Love Me leaves a powerful footprint in O’Donnell’s wake. Despite going through the often debilitating process of chemotherapy, O’Donnel fought to make this album happen. It seems apparent that there was never any doubt for the rest of Planes Mistaken For Stars members that they would eventually release this album in his memoriam.
