News: Pop-Punk Group When The Sun Sets Share New Single ‘Serotonin Sunrise’

When the Sun Sets

Pop-punk band When The Sun Sets shared their brand-new single, “Serotonin Sunrise,” on September 26. This track is the band’s first release since their 2024 EP Villain (You Can Hate Me.)

When The Sun Sets create a serene yet energetic atmosphere with “Serotonin Sunrise.” Lyrics make for a relatable love song intertwined with a modernized pop-punk melody. The track is the perfect bridge from the end of summer into the autumn months.

“‘Serotonin Sunrise’ is an upbeat love song that is ready to bring the feelings right out of you. This song is about your special person, even if they haven’t found you yet.” – Zack Baumgartner, lead vocalist.

The band bridge the gap between modern and classic pop punk. They hone in on their ability to write relatable lyrics that highlight a message of mental health and suicide awareness. “For me, it’s going through my own experiences. You may think you’re alone, but a lot of people are going through the same thing. Our biggest thing we want to get through to our audience is that you’re never alone,” says vocalist Zack Baumgartner about the band’s lyrics.

With influence from bands like New Found Glory, A Day To Remember, and Neck Deep, When The Sun Sets pair their passionate lyrics with driving riffs to bring the fun back into the genre. The band signed with Lost Music Collective, owned by founder of Fueled by Ramen, Vinnie Fiorello, in 2019, bringing new energy to the roster after writing their heart-stealing acoustic ballad “February.” Their debut EP Transparent was released on the label in May of 2020 and gave the group a solid fan-base to begin their journey.

Now independent, the band are gearing up to release a full-length album amongst a string of singles. The release will feature artists such as: The Home Team, 408, Definitely Maybe, and lolitslea to showcase some talented friends in the scene and display the next step in their songwriting. Their most recent EP You + Me 4 Never has yielded over 300,000 streams on Spotify alone.

The newest single off their upcoming LP, “Serotonin Sunrise,” expands their sound. The track exudes a glowing atmosphere as the Sunsets experiment with refreshing new elements of pop-punk. “’Serotonin Sunrise’ is a love song; it’s about finding your person. For myself, everything in my life changed for the better. It’s like I found my purpose again,” says Baumgartner about the new track. “Things that were difficult by yourself are just simple with the right person.”

When The Sun Sets bring their energetic show to life in massive ways, having played alongside major national and international artists such as: Bearings, The Home Team, 408, Boys of Fall, Every Avenue, Carousel Kings, Knockout Kid, Makeout, Story Untold, and many more. The band intertwine their message of never wanting their fanbase to feel alone while building their own unique connection with them. “We just want there to be a sense of community where people are allowed to be themselves. We feel like a lot of people are missing out on that,” say the band about the environment they create at their live shows.
