Following the success of their singles “Drowning” and “Lately I’ve Been Caught Up”, Poppy Wizard announces the release of their debut EP titled Holy Spirit Gang, out August 23 via the Supervillain label.
This release will feature five tracks, also available on vinyl and open for preorder here. As a lead-up to the launch, their new single “Bedridden” is already out, continuing the band’s style blending grunge and alternative rock.
Hendrik Dyga, the band’s vocalist and guitarist, comments:
“The song is about depression in the broadest sense—about the desire to isolate yourself from others and just vegetate in front of yourself. At the same time, it describes manic phases in which all you want to do is party and have fun, even though this ‘fun’ is only imaginary. Overall, it’s a very personal song about dealing with depression.”
Listen to the new single by Poppy Wizard, “Bedridden”:
What originally started as a creative experiment between two people during the Corona pandemic in Düsseldorf and Cologne, Poppy Wizard have evolved into a musical project driven by the shared passion of four lifelong friends. Their music is a blend of powerful, melodic, and danceable songs that captivate audiences. Inspired by life’s various addictions, their sound oscillates between heavy, dreamy, and undulating structures that will appeal to modern rock fans with distorted textures and grunge-gaze elements.
Tracklist “Holy Spirit Gang”:
1. H.S.G.
2. Drowning
3. Lately I’ve Been Caught Up
4. On Your Plate
5. Bedridden
