News: Priest Reimagine Rammstein’s “Engel”

Priest have released a stripped down, reimagining of Rammstein’s “Engel” in all of its mechanized, skull-splitting glory. “Engel” was released in 1997 as the first single from Rammstein’s second album, Sehnsucht (Desire), the video inspired by the movie “From Dusk Till Dawn.”

Priest took the spirit of Rammstein’s tune and broke it down into a coalescence of electronic and melodic instrumentation with Priest’s unique sound stamped all over it. Their cover of “Engel” is catchy, dark synth with searing elements of industrial rock.

“Engel” is part of the forthcoming record, A Tribute To Rammstein, available worldwide on August 25. The album features the work of Manntra, Stoneman, and Julien-K, joining forces with vanguard veterans, Front Line Assembly, Laibach, Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory), Paul Ferguson (Killing Joke), and Skold (KMFDM/Shotgun Messiah).

The release of “Engel” coincides with the conclusion of Priest’s US summer tour with Powerman 5000 and Julien-K, as well as the first of their festival dates in Finland.

The ever-elusive Priest is comprised of members Mercury, Salt, and Sulfur. The band features two former members of the Tobias Forge led band, Ghost.
