News: Pure Noise Records and Pabst Blue Ribbon Announce ‘Dead Formats Volume 2’

Dead Formats

Pure Noise Records have once again teamed up with Pabst Blue Ribbon to announce their upcoming compilation, Dead Formats Volume 2, which will be out September 15. The previous Dead Formats compilation was intended to revive the spirit of old punk compilations like Punk-O-Rama and the Vans Warped Tour comps. Dead Formats Volume 2 will be a collection of punk bands covering classic pop songs.

Along with the announcement, Pure Noise put out the first three tracks from the compilation: Less Than Jake covering The Kinks’ “Come Dancing,” Knuckle Puck taking on Third Eye Blind’s “Losing a Whole Year,” and Lavalove covering Nirvana’s “Lithium.”

Funnily enough, Less Than Jake both appears on the compilation performing a cover and they’re one of the bands being covered, with Youth Fountain covering Less Than Jake’s “Look What Happened.”

Dead Formats Volume 2 is available for pre-order from Pure Noise Records.
