Popular German industrial metal band Rammstein get entangled in a legal dispute in French court as the French synthwave band Ninja Cyborg file a lawsuit against them, which alleges Rammstein to plagiarism. The origin of the issue goes back to 2020 when Rammstein followers and fans mage allegations that Ninja Cyborg plagiarized the song “Deutschland,” in their own song “Sunny Road.” “Sunny Road,” however, was released in 2018, several months before “Deutschland” was released in 2019.
Three years later on October 9, 2023, the Paris Court of Appeal appointed musical expert made a statement that Rammstein deliberately took the riff and other melodic parts of the song “Sunny Road”, and used it in “Deutschland.” It was also stated that there are too many similarities between the songs for them to be coincidences.
According to the press release:
“The first hearing has been set for September 10th, 2024.”
