News: Regional Justice Center Return With New Album ‘Freedom, Sweet Freedom’

Regional Justice Center

Hardcore heroes Regional Justice Center have finally returned with the announcement of their third album, Freedom, Sweet Freedom, due out September 20 from Closed Casket Activities. Started in 2016 by Ian Shelton when his younger brother, Max, was incarcerated, the two began the band as a way to stay connected during Max’s time in prison and also to explore the nature of incarceration itself.

In 2021, the project released the critically acclaimed Crime and Punishment, and, in the midst of the pandemic, RJC was put on hold as Ian started focusing on his other band, Militarie Gun. But Max Shelton was released from prison in 2022, meaning that, on Freedom, Sweet Freedom, Max is able to join RJC to actually write and record on the album.

The project released the first two blistering, blazing, powerviolence singles “Freedom” and “Take a Step Away.” The two singles demonstrate the unique perspectives of the project, with “Freedom” written and fronted by Ian, and “Take a Step Away” written and fronted by Max. Check out the two tracks below.

Freedom, Sweet Freedom can be preordered from Closed Casket Activities. Follow Regional Justice Center on Twitter for future updates.
