Brooklyn based record label Sacred Bones recently announced an archival release from Mort Garson, a Canadian composer. The album, titled Journey to the Moon and Beyond, is set to release on July 21.
Mort Garson was well-known as a pioneer in the composition and arrangement of electronic music, best known for his albums from the ’60s and ’70s such as “Mother Earth’s Plantasia.” His recordings were some of the first to include Moog synthesizers.
Along with the album, Sacred Bones will also release “Moon Journey,” the soundtrack to the live broadcast of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The July 20 release of both “Moon Journey” and Journey to the Moon and Beyond are in tandem with the celebration of Garson’s 99th birthday on July 20.
