Emo rapper sadeyes releases his new single “toothfairy” from his upcoming EP patient death. It drops on May, 12. patient death is the latest addition to a growing, scene playlist of emo rap, blending two genres that may have always meant to be together.
The 23-year-old Portland native’s new song leans into maximalist production with the track building on a foundation of glistening synths and effervescent textures interrupted by syncopated bass drops. The vocals are painfully honest. The emotional lyricism from sadeyes is completely on display.
Nathan Lewis, the musical mind behind sadeyes, says the upcoming, six song EP is laced with earworm hooks and crunchy textures over guitar and keys.
“Progress isn’t linear. This EP is a reflection of me taking a new path to progression,” Lewis explains.
Getting his start as a 17-year-old grinding on soundcloud, sadeyes signed to Epitaph. He dropped a full-length album, multiple Ep’s and prolific number of singles.
Now at more than 140 million streams, sadeyes is ready for the next step in the upcoming EP. Learn more about his work here.
