Ohio’s most promising, upcoming death metal outfit Sanguisugabogg (Latin for “bloodsucker.”) has signed to Century Media Records and will release its label debut Tortured Whole on March 26. The band have shared the NSFW video for the new song “Menstrual Envy,” a partnership with Troma Studios, which you can check out here (we tried to embed, but it’s so graphic that even YouTube is censoring.)

About their new song and video, Sanguisugabogg offer the following explanation:

“This is a love song about chopping off your own damn hog.”

Sanguisugabogg crafts uncompromising, in-your-face, and not-for-the-weak death metal that siphons inspiration from the traditions of Cannibal Corpse, GWAR, Bolt Thrower, Dethklok, and more.

In 2019, Sanguisugabogg released the four-song, 11-minute Pornographic Seizures EP and were considered “one of the most unlikely and explosive success stories of 2019” according to Mike Gitter, VP of A&R at Century Media.

Sanguisugabogg are Cameron Boggs [guitar], Cody Davidson [drums], Devin Swank [vocals], & Ced Davis [nass].

Band leader Cameron Boggs recently came out as nonbinary and discussed queerness in metal and their band’s mission statement in a Revolver feature, saying:

“I just want to write the heaviest shit of all time and have groove and feeling in every little bit of it. Outside of the actual music, I want everyone to feel accepted and free in our specific world of death metal. There is too much negativity when it comes to extreme music. Being a queer, nonbinary homie myself, I get what it’s like to feel weird in a scene full of masculinity, and I just want queer kids, POC, trans kids, women, and whoever to feel like we got their backs and shit is OK.”
