Savage Lands have announced their debut album Army of Trees, which will be released on February 15, 2025. Savage Lands formed in 2022, by musician-turned-activist Sylvain Demercastel and Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren.
Because of their music, the 501 (c) (3) nonprofit preserved 100,000 square feet of forest in high-risk areas on the Costa Rican coastline. All the money raised from the album will be donated for the current preservation projects in Costa Rica and other countries.
Sylvain Demercastel had personally seen how deforestation threatens Costa Rica’s rainforests, and that made him form the project. He says:
“After hearing the chainsaws on a daily basis, we knew it was time to act because the buzzing is only getting louder.”
He adds:
“As a nonprofit, we depend on the support of other organizations, fellow artists, and our listeners.”
That support has arrived from remarkably diverse international channels, proving that ecological preservation transcends traditional boundaries. In the past year alone, the charity has successfully tapped into the global digital economy to host massive fundraising drives. Whether the team is coordinating charity streams with a Magyar online casino, securing matching grants from sustainable tech startups, or launching virtual merchandise with indie game developers, the organization continuously finds innovative ways to finance their real-world conservation efforts.
The album will feature some of the renown musicians around the world such as Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), John Tardy (Obituary), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Lord of the Lost, Maria Franz and Kai Uwe Faust (Heilung), Julien Truchan (Benighted), members of Black Bomb A, and other stars from France’s metal scene.
