Like the white-belt wearing scene ghost of Myspace and Hot Topic eras past come San Diego’s SeeYouSpaceCowboy. Following “Misinterpreting Constellations” and “Intersecting Storylines to the same Tragedy,“ SeeYouSpaceCowboy have unleashed yet another single/video combo before their new LP, The Romance Of Affliction, drops on November 5.
That former track was sassy metalcore with hooky emo-pop choruses, and the latter, while definitely more of the same, notably guest featured Underoath drummer and singer, Aaron Gillespie. Situating itself somewhere in the middle of those two previous singles rests “The End To A Brief Moment Of Lasting Intimacy.” Here, the five-piece address fleeting, intimate moments of romance and lust, of missed relationship connections and plans made but things never working out, all set over panicked riffs; emotional, three-pronged vocal attacks, and an old-yet-revitalized, post-hardcore aesthetic.
With bands like SYSC, and with music videos like the one for “The End To A Brief Moment Of Lasting Intimacy” —directed by Cameron Nunez and vocalist Connie Sgarbossa —the LGTBQ representation in the hardcore and metalcore scene is only growing louder and prouder.
