Thrash metal icons Sepultura are gearing up to release the massive Quadra on February 7 via Nuclear Blast Records. Comprised of some of the bands’ most powerful, orchestral, and heaviest work to date, Sepultura have put together a documentary that follows the journey of creating the powerhouse of a record.
On January 23, the band released a new trailer for the behind-the-music documentary, focusing on bass player Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. and his personal challenges in the studio during the production of Quadra.
Paulo Jr. is the longest remaining member of Sepultura and is a veteran musician who is certainly not new to a studio setting. He joined the band in 1985 and has been credited on every studio album the band ever released. The documentary trailer gives a behind-the-scenes look at Paulo Jr. working in the studio with producer Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios.
The viewer is able to experience the grueling and tedious process of working with the meticulous producer and also see how this monstrous album came together from the bassist’s perspective. During the documentary, you see that the band has no intentions of slowing down or becoming stagnant at all; quite the opposite. The band’s 15th studio album is Sepultura at the top of their game, expressing elements of extreme music that are refreshing for even this group of veterans.
On January 16, the band released the trailer that followed drummer Eloy Casagrande in the studio, which can be viewed here.
