Alternative rock band Set the Lights have just released their eagerly awaited single “Never Fear the Night.”
According to vocalist Mike Segura, this release marks a significant turning point for the group:
“For some reason, it just feels like we’re more put together for this one. We’ve been working hard, collaborating with other artists, launching merch, and a possible first show. It feels a lot more real now.”
Segura further elaborated that “Never Fear the Night” tells the story of two lovers separated by distance for the first time.
“It started out being about distance, but that ended up opening a path to talk about deeper insecurities that we often face in our relationships. The fear of darkness, of uncertainty, it’s what inspired me to name it ‘Never Fear the Night.'”
This premise inspired the single’s artwork being a candle, symbolizing a light amidst the darkness. Known now for their emo pop-punk sound, lovers of the mid 2000 era of alternative rock can be sure to expect another anthemic track.
