In a poignant moment bridging past and present, the frontwoman of Shiragirl, Shira Yevin, had joined NOFX on stage to perform “Lori Meyers” with NOFX’s frontman, Fat Mike. The collaboration marked a full-circle moment in their relationship dating back to 2004 when Shira had famously crashed the Vans Warped Tour in her Pink RV to protest the lack of female performers. The powerful rendition showcased an enduring connection further emphasized by Fat Mike’s recent recognition of Shira’s pioneering role in punk-rock.
Fat Mike honored Shira by including her in The Punk-Rock Museum in Las Vegas. He founded the 12,000-square-foot space in April 2023. Now Shira, among many other legends within the genre, are commemorated within the museum. Fat Mike also supported Gritty In Pink at their Rock For Abortion protest concert the day after Roe v. Wade was overturned.
Shira Yevin’s comment on sharing the stage with NOFX:
“Playing the NOFX NYX farewell show, especially on Punk in Drublic night and performing “Lori Meyers,” was one of the biggest honors in my punk rock journey! Fat Mike and the band are family from the Warped Tour Shiragirl Stage days. To have been included in that run was a dream. We will miss NOFX, though their legacy lives on!”
Shira’s performance with NOFX highlighted her roots within activism of punk rock. Currently she’s focussing on creating lasting change in the music industry through technology. Her latest venutre, Gritty in Pink, is building a talent marketplace called INPINK to connect clients with professional women in music with industry opportunities. The platform represents the evolution of Shira’s mission. Just as the Shiragirl, Stage provided a physical platform for women at Warped Tour, INPINK creates a digital platform for female talent to thrive.
