News: Signals Midwest Unveil New Track ‘TOMMY TOOK A PICTURE,’ From Forthcoming LP

Signals Midwest

Signals Midwest has been rocking sweaty basements and low-lit clubs across the world for over 13 years now. Their friend and collaborator, Washington-based photographer Tommy Calderon has been there to document most of it. A lot can happen in the lifespan of a band and the band’s newest single, “TOMMY TOOK A PICTURE” depicts the nostalgic trip of combing through memories and reflecting on your younger self.

“TOMMY TOOK A PICTURE” is out now through Lauren Records and comes right out the gate with the melodic pop-punk Signals Midwest has perfected alongside frontman Maxwell Stern’s poetic and reflective lyrics. “TOMMY…” follows the band’s March 7-inch release “I Used To Draw/Wizard of Loneliness.” The track is currently a stand-alone single but will also feature on the band’s unannounced forthcoming LP, expected in early 2022.

“TOMMY…” and the upcoming LP were recorded/produced/mixed by J Robbins (The Promise Ring, Jets To Brazil, Against Me) and mastered by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Audio.

On “TOMMY TOOK A PICTURE,” Stern states:

“Our friend Tommy Calderon has been shooting photos of our band for over a decade now. I spent a lot of time over the course of 2020 going through the archives and soaking in nostalgia, so I ended up sifting through a lot of images he’s made over the years. I wanted to capture the energy I saw in those photos – what I felt when we first started playing together, and every day held the potential for discovery.”
