San Diego rock and pop-punk band Sleep It Off release their latest song “Say A Prayer.” They’re joined by Chicago pop-punkers Belmont on the melodic track with a deep meaning.
“‘Say A Prayer’ is about faith getting shoved down your throat and wanting a mind of your own,” the band say.
The track wastes little time as heartfelt vocals laid over a smooth melody greet the listener. The chorus is electric, and the guitar playing throughout is so on point. Lyrically, the song is incredibly personal.
“I’m not saying you didn’t raise me right/But I’m paving my own way this time,” the chorus croons, a sharply relatable line in the context of the track’s religious undertone. Belmont singer Taz Johnson shines on this track.
“We loved Taz Johnson’s vocal energy and thought it would mesh well with our style,” the band say.
Sleep It Off has had a big summer, opening for Spitafield and Crossing I’d Dotting T’s in July. Listen to more of their music here.
