Multi-instrumentalist sophie meiers dropped their latest EP, crawl_space, today on legendary record label Epitaph Records. Combining lo-fi electronic, hip-hop, indie pop, and even jazz elements into their music, meiers is a reminder that the former punk label, Epitaph, now sports artists with a much more diverse range of sounds.
“When I listen to music, I see and experience vivid imagery—Sounds have smells, environments, and textures to me,” explains meiers about their creative process. “To be able to capture a moment with sound is—in itself—magic( …)Vivid stories can be etched into airwaves forever. Music is a universal language—the ability to freeze time. It’s an exploration of the meaning of human mortality.”
