Oregon hardcore band Southtowne Lanes have announced their new album, Take Care. It’ll release May 10 via Dog Knight Productions. The album was heavily inspired by the vocalist and guitarist Matt Kupka’s father’s passing. They are going to release a new single from this new album titled “Go Cold” on March 29.
Matt Kupka on Take Care:
“On the surface, this record was written largely in dedication to my father, who passed away in a brutal and sudden manner in September of 2021. The album, song by song, dissects the stages of grief: how they relate, how they changed me, how I dealt with them, and how they led me down to the depths of my own mortality where it seed there could be no light.
“In the end, Take Care, is about the shreds of hope that are found buried in the wreckage of loss and grief. It’s about peeling back the layers of hurt, and finding resilience in the human condition.”
The album is a collection of tracks that touch on themes of loss and struggling through the stages of grief. It also marks the first release of new music since 2016, when they dropped Give Up The Ghost.
