News: Stanley Sievers Releases Trailer for Film Satirizing Hardcore Scene ‘The Moshumentary’

Stanley Sievers

Filmmaker Stanley Sievers emerges on a mission to create a film that truly captures the essence of the alternative music scenes. The upcoming film is based on Stanley’s viral “Mosh Retirement Guy” character on TikTok and Instagram. The video will be a mockumentary of 22 minutes in length, and it is shot in the vein of a documentary on true crime that humorously parodies the hardcore scene. The premise includes a sad grown man who is banned from moshing due to his violent nature in the past. He must clear his name in order to come out of mosh retirement.

Stanley Sievers shares his thoughts:

I always found it frustrating to see heavy represented in tv/film and it just be so… bad. It’s always crystal clear when the key creatives aren’t familiar with that world, so it just comes across as fake. I’ve always wanted to make tv/film where alternative music feels more like a character than an afterthought. I want to make stuff that feels authentic. Having spent years touring in hardcore bands (Dead Icons on Bullet Tooth, and Call to Preserve on Facedown), making a project about the music scene I grew up in just made sense. I saw how much people connected with my characters on social media roasting their niche music scene, and I wanted to take that to the next level. After I stopped touring, I ended up in Chicago doing improv & sketch comedy at Second City, iO Theater, and Annoyance Theater.

Growing up I always loved mockumentaries like This is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, Reno 911!, and Waiting for Guffman. SLC Punk was also a favorite of mine – I loved how the movie depicted the punk scene. I must watched it 100 times. Besides this project, i’ve directed two indie TV pilots in the mockumentary style – Ghost Hotel and Zader Law. So, i’m a fan of the medium. It allows you a lot of flexibility that other filmmaking styles don’t.
