Colorado Springs-based outlaw alt-folk group Tejon Street Corner Thieves have announced the details for their upcoming new album Thick As Thieves. The 12-track album is set to surface in early 2022 via Liars Club, the label founded by Amigo The Devil and independent powerhouse Regime Music Group.
To launch the album announcement, Tejon Street Corner Thieves have released a brand-new music video for Thick As Thieves’ first single, “Love’s Pilot.” The video was directed by Travis Conklin from Colorado-based F4D Studio and depicts Connor and Shawn’s (of TSCT) version of a truck stop heaven, complete with a burlesque show, skateboarders, carnival performers, and more.
Connor O’Neal of TSCT states: “Thick as Thieves is a continuation of our Demons EP. After covid pulled us away from that project for months, we were finally able to get the band together to finish what we started. The album is about comradeship, heartbreak, revenge, and growth.”
When asked about the band’s outlandish new music for “Love’s Pilot,” vocalist Shawn D’Amario says, “The song is about how life on the road doesn’t ever end. Even after death. It paints a picture of what heaven might be like for a touring musician or trucker. The video is filled with babes, brews, and buds to show what the perfect afterlife might be for some dedicated road hogs.”
Thick As Thieves was recorded at Royal Recordings in Colorado Springs with producer Bill Douglas (Veruca Salt, Smashing Pumpkins and more), and adds a newfound sound that compliments the Tejon Street Corner Thieves whiskey-soaked anthems. Twisting together a unique blend of Americana, folk, and bluegrass, there is depth, complexity, and authenticity that elevates Thick As Thieves to a whole new sonic spectrum.
When it came time to accentuate the sounds of the new album, Tejon Street Corner Thieves brought in Olafh Acevedo to illustrate the cover art of a holy angel and a fallen demon enjoying the riches of a heist. The booklet that accompanies Thick as Thieves is an original Tejon Street Corner Thieves comic book. Fans who purchase physical copies can read the nail-biting tale of how Tejon Street Corner Thieves escaped disaster after their bus broke down in the desert. Faced with no money, sweltering heat, and no options, the band face off with the supernatural to escape with their mortal souls.
