Viral wunderkind punk band The Linda Lindas are back, and this time they have some famous company. This morning, they released their new single and accompanying video called “Yo Me Estreso,” a Spanish-language track which features accordion from a special guest musician, the one and only “Weird Al” Yankovic. The song is the latest single off The Linda Lindas’ upcoming album No Obligation, which is out October 11 on Epitaph Records.
“‘Yo Me Estreso’ is a song about always being stressed, always being anxious and thinking that people are mad at you when they really aren’t,” explains guitarist and vocalist Bela Salazar. “It was inspired by listening to a lot of corridos tumbados, banda and Duranguense and doing that in our own punk style.”
“Yo Me Estreso” is full of eerily haunting melodies that perfectly compliment the music video, which resembles a local television broadcast with campy costumes. Yankovic’s accordion playing is absolutely a feature of this unusual punk song. Check out the video below.
