NYC indie rock act The Still Out are sharing their new track “Let the Listeners Hurt” from their upcoming debut album Crystallized, which will be released on August 21.

The band share their thoughts about the song:
“Josh’s infectious bass riff formed the backbone of this song’s demo that was eventually built up with heavy layered guitars. After Josh played the song’s skeleton in a Jersey City bar, Swervedriver’s Adam Franklin happened to hear it and approached him to find out who wrote it. He offered to play on it, and within a few days, Josh and Arj were in the studio with him rounding out the tune with Adam’s iconic lead guitar and vocals. The result is a loud and taut burst of dynamic intensity, a celebration of movement and vitality.”
Band member Arjun shares his thoughts about the album:
“’Crystallized’ is an expression of raw emotion. Musically, we brought together a wide range of influences in a very organic, unplanned way. The lyrics rolled out in a stream of consciousness, where the sounds of the words and the emotions they conveyed were more important than telling a specific story. Creatively, the ideas always seemed to land on the same page, despite two very different approaches to songwriting. There were never any constraints or egos; it was always about what was best for the song.”
He also talks about the new song:
“On a slow night spinning at a Jersey City bar, Josh decided to put on an early version of the song. One of the few patrons that night happened to be Adam Franklin of Swervedriver, who said to Josh, “That’s really good; who is that?” It was insane; he was a legend to us.”
Deluxe Edition of the album will feature Adam Franklin (Swervedriver), Jody Porter (Fountains Of Wayne), Claude Coleman, Jr. (Ween) And Mikey Jones (The Lemonheads, Swervedriver). The Still Out were formed by producers Josh Stoddard and Arjun “Arj” Agerwala in the mid-2000s in NYC. The band got signed to indie label Hi-Speed Soul and then opened for Swervedriver and Longwave. After that they went for a break. Stoddard and Agerwala took different paths, and unfortunately Stoddard died tragically by suicide in 2021. Agerwala reformed the band in 2026.
