Asbury Park, New Jersey-based alt-rock four piece, Tide Bends, are known for their unique, guitar-driven blend of alt-rock, britpop, and psychedelic rock. They recently announced the release of their upcoming EP Say Yeah which is due out on June 21 from Mint 400 Records.
To commemorate the announcement, the band released their latest single off the new EP called “Birthday.” You can see the blending of the band’s different genres here as the song flirts with the trippy heaviness of psychedelia but without ever stepping outside of the confines of a classic britpop-style melody, taking on the soaring style of the Madchester scene of the late-’80s and early-’90s, particularly the stylings of the legendary Stone Roses. The song serves as a taste of what’s to come off what promises to be a stellar EP.
