One of the most notorious bands in black metal today, Watain, have set April 29 as the release date of their new, full-length album, The Agony And Ecstasy Of Watain, via Nuclear Blast Records. Not much is known about this album except that the intensity of the music, and the pure, undiluted evil nature of it will undoubtedly set a new standard for the genre of black metal, especially with song titles like “Black Cunt,” and “Funeral Winter.”
The Agony And Ecstasy Of Watain was written by the founding trinity of Watain (E. Danielsson, H. Jonsson and P. Forsberg), and the first album to be recorded with a full line up completed by A. Lillo, H. Eriksson, and E. Forcas. Adding to its eldritch nature, The Agony And Ecstasy Of Watain was recorded live inside an old church on the Swedish countryside.
