News: Wheelbite Release Second EP ‘Purify’

Wheelbite

Pop-punkers from downstate New York, Wheelbite, release their newest EP Purify. The band’s sophomore album is a six-song blitzkrieg and a complete level up from its previous work.

“It’s jam packed with powerful, fast punk riffs complimented by catchy vocal melodies,” the band say about Purify.

Wheelbite fall on the punkier side of the pop-punk spectrum. In a scene where so many bands lather their music with reverbs, autotune and added effects, the New Yorkers ride fast and free. But Purify is still cleanly produced, avoiding the gruffness of a 90s punk album.

A great example is the second track “Pastime.” “I tried to live for more than myself, but you placed your bets on everyone else,” the tune croons.

Fans of oldschool Neck Deep will be right at home with “Hang It Up.” The bouncy song kicks with an electric chorus. The stripped back finish is timed perfectly. “Claim you’re doing fine, you still hit my line. And you’ve had too much wine, I think it’s time to ‘Hang it Up,’” the chorus goes.

The EP’s final tune, “So Long,” also stands out. It’s a soaring track showcasing the band’s ability to take big swings. “I don’t wanna be a pawn you gave up on, just to claim you’ve won,” the track hits.

Wheelbite will join about a dozen other bands at Hype Fest in Middletown, New York on December, 7. Get info about the festival and the band here.
