The blackened, crepuscular black metal band, Withered, has announced a hefty co-headlining November tour with Louisiana extreme metal enthusiasts, Goatwhore. Joining the bill with Withered and Goatwhore is the Philly metal-punk group, Spiter.
This marks the first time in a decade that Withered and Goatwhore will share the stage and road. Crossing over the states with 20 dates, this is a big moment for Withered’s vocalist/guitarist, Mike Thompson, who cited Goatwhore as one of the primary influences for the Withered sound and tenacity.
“Ever since Sammy [Duet] handed me their demo in ’99, I’ve had a lot of affection for those guys,” says Thompson. “We’ve shared countless good times over all these years and revel in the heaviest of riffs together. Honored to get to do it every night … the crowds don’t stand a chance.”
Withered will no doubt be playing songs from their latest offering, Verloren, a heavy dirge of buzzing riffs, blast beats, and spine-chilling screams. Their catalog stretches over 18 years with five albums that toe the line of bloody in-your-face metal, DIY thrash, and theatric stage presence. Get ready to bang your head.
