U.K. metalcore prodigies Within Reach release their most ambitious song yet, “Armageddon.” The face-melting tune features a unique song structure that oscillates from hardcore to metal to hip-hop. The band’s full capabilities are on display.
“I think the major theme behind the song is about someone important in your life,” the band state. “That you know isn’t good for you but you still have attachment to them … I will always say to anyone to look at any lyrics from any of our songs and take something from it they can relate to.”
The five-piece has earned recognition in the U.K. with their recent collaboration with Download Festival. The group also earned the top song for the month of August on Blood Sweat And Beers TV for “Armageddon.” The track helped Within Reach earn Featured Artist of the Week on Alex Baker’s Kerrang! Radio Fresh Blood show.
“The ‘rap’ section delves into the idea behind people putting on a front and essentially doing anything in their power to run away from any blame for their actions,” Within Reach continue. “The very last section after the last chorus essentially ends the song’s story with the person of the narrative realizing that negativity that people had inflicted onto them when they thought those people were good for them and finally breaking that cycle by realizing these people have had the power this whole time … in reality, they shouldn’t have.”
At the start of the year, Within Reach signed with Down For Life Music, who represent some of the best metalcore and alternative rock acts in the U.K. It’s a clear sign that this band are on a fast, upward trajectory.
