Brooklyn’s Worriers, headed by Lauren Denitzio, are poised to release their third album. Embracing an edgy, alt-rock-meets-mod-punk sound, Denitzo vents about personal tribulations and hampered dynamics of relationships over catchy but blunt riffs. Often helped by longstanding indie warrior guitarist Mike (Mikey Erg) Yannich (The Ergs!, Doc Hopper, Dopamines, Star Fucking Hipsters, etc), The Worriers fluctuate from a trio to quartet and execute sardonic, power-pop fiercely.

6131 Records have been expanding the sound of their roster the last few years to move away from the silo of tough hardcore. Worriers do well here, having previously released their 2nd LP, Survival Pop, on punk label SideOneDummy Records (themselves spanning a wide spectrum with acts such asKill Your Idols, Flogging Molly, MxPx, Gogol Bordello, Casualties, Title Fight, Chuck Ragan).

But their time in studio and touring with John K. Samson, Against Me!, Julien Baker, Anti Flag, and more have molded a more reticent and focused sound. The moody, somber tone—especially of the first single, “PWR CPL,” is heart wrenching but not slow or self-indulgent.

You or Someone You Know is produced by John Agnello (Kurt Vile, The Hold Steady, Hop Along), and his input has elevated the songwriting along with Denitzo’s maturation. Describing the songwriter’s lyrical and emotional state, 6131 describes the content of as Denitzo “tapping into deeply personal life changes and cross-country moves for lyrical inspiration—not to mention the dumpster fire that is our current society—and honing their songwriting to impressive new heights; the album feels like the perfect next chapter for this already acclaimed band.”

Preorders are now available, including limited edition vinyl and CDs via 6131 Records, and digital via Bandcamp.

March 2020 will see Denitzo tour with Brian Fallon and Justin Towles Earle
