Legendary Los Angeles punk band X will once again join forces with Violent Femmes for a short tour in late May and early June. The two highly influential acts also did a run together in 2019. The 11 new dates are spread across the Midwest, Toronto, and the East Coast.
At first glance it may appear to be an odd pairing, but the two bands both filter their punk and alternative through the common influences of early rock ‘n’ roll, blues, gospel, soul, and country.
X is also continuing to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their iconic 1979 debut LP, Los Angeles, with a special show at The Wiltern in L.A. on April 25. The band still features all four original members—vocalist Exene Cervenka, bassist/vocalist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer DJ Bonebrake.
Milwaukee’s Violent Femmes released their most recent album, Hotel Last Resort, just last year. While the trio continues to make compelling music, it’s safe to assume they’ll still be playing plenty of songs from their ground-breaking, 1983, self-titled, full-length debut.
