The savage Zealot R.I.P. became real when life-long friends Jason Hamacher (previously of Frodus, Battery, CombatWoundedVeteran) and Mike Schleibaum (Darkest Hour) began collaborating in the hopes of creating some, fas, brutal, and heavy.
They eventually recruited Schleibaum’s relentless Pig Destroyer’s Blake Harrison and Fairweather’s Peter Tsouras, and recorded a three-song, self-titled EP that was released on Three One G in 2019. In keeping somewhat with their love of Entombed, they played their first show at the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C., as part of a concert and panel discussion about the history of Swedish metal.
Now, the band are back with a big announcement and a new video, “Covered in Flies.” Check it out below:
“Covered in Flies” will appear on Zealot R.I.P.’s upcoming and debut LP The Extinction of You, which will see the light of day along with a limited vinyl run of 250 gold wax and 250 white wax, via Three One G Records on September 10, 2021. Preorder here.
