Richmond, VA indie prog quartet Night Idea are thrilled to present their new album Breathing Cold in full via Vanyaland, ahead of the record’s release this Friday, March 25th on JuJu Records. A gorgeous blend of modern indie rock and classic prog rock, the band effortlessly swirl the two opposing genres together, creating something that balances pop songwriting with subtle technicality and epic song structures. Night Idea, exceedingly tight and undeniably talented, have created a record built with an equal focus on catchy hooks and jaw-droppingly inaccessible moments of spastic wonder. They make the impossible sound possible, just listen to opening track “At The Wheel” and it’s immediate apparent that Night Idea are operating at another level.
Speaking about the record Vanyaland noted, “Jazzy arrangements and psychedelic tendencies add numerous dimensions, giving an extra dose of originality to this quartet’s repertoire” before adding, “The dueling guitar syncopation from Carter Burton and Reid LaPierre throughout Breathing Cold is a sonic battle of chords and riffs. Burton’s cadence on vocals makes each track harmonious with there being a contagiously pleasant vibe that won’t leave the ears.”
