Little Rocket Records are delighted to confirm that Edmonton, Alberta based band Old Wives have signed to their label, and to coincide with the announcement, Old Wives have released a short video statement. Check it out below!
Old Wives (whose drummer Darren now also plays for Teenage Bottlerocket) will be celebrating the announcement by playing with Chixdiggit in Edmonton on 9 September 2016. They will then be releasing their back catalogue through Little Rocket Records before releasing their new album via Little Rocket Records in Spring 2017.
Introduce us to Old Wives and a bit about what you’ve done so far?
Well, we are a three piece band from Edmonton, Alberta. We’ve been around for about 8 years and have toured all over Canada and parts of the US (aka – we’ve drank our way across the countryside). We have a full length (See You In Hell), an EP (Backed In A Corner) and a split 12″ (Here We Go Again). Our new full-length, Three, will be out early next year on Little Rocket Records.
You’re releasing your new LP via Little Rocket Records, who’ve just opened a North American office. How did that come about?
Well, we have had the record done for a while and really wanted to make good decisions with it. We were talking with a few labels and bouncing ideas around. Mark and LRR kind of came out of no where – but once we started talking and he laid out where the label was wanting to go, it was a no-brainer. We honestly could’t be happier with the support and the partnership between the two of us. It’s a perfect fit for us!
Darren splits his time between Old Wives and Teenage Bottle rocket. How is that working out and have things changed at all for Old Wives?
Things are working out great! Those guys have been friends of ours for a long time. We’ve played lots of shows together in the past and it’s great to see them continue on amidst tragedy. I managed to catch a couple of Warped Tour dates and, when I wasn’t drinking all of TBR’s beer, I was amazed at how Darren stepped up and knocked it out of the park! He’s a great drummer and it’s great to see him get a chance to do something like this. It’s only been positives so far!
2017 looks to be a big year for you, with the album scheduled. What else is planned for Old Wives?
Right now, looking at 2017 is like a kid waiting for Christmas! We are so excited to get this release out and share it with everyone! Canadian Tour in Spring 2017 is in the works and I’d be lying if I told you we weren’t trying to tour beyond Canada; US and Europe – I’m looking at you!
