The video for ‘I Don’t Like Your Friends’ parallels the genesis of Only, as the members move beyond their punk past to explore the furthest reaches of their musical capabilities.
These are the birthing pains of reinvention, and the visuals reflect these new manifestations hatching from the rugged shell of the old. Traditional tropes of pop-music like summer fun and lovers’ embrace are viewed through a lens still cracked from years of punk-rock chaos.
Change is never immediate, but the optimistic tune of ‘I Don’t Like Your Friends’ proves Only have found their path through the fractured cocoon.
