Pillow Talk Release Demo of New Song, Recording Debut LP This Summer

Apparently, Zayn Malik, formerly of One Direction, decided to call his first solo single, “Pillowtalk” which might not seem that big a deal unless your band is named Pillow Talk. In that case you gain over 5 thousand new Twitter followers and a horde of new listeners. In the social media craze that ensued the Memphis, TN quintet released a demo of a new track they plan on recording this Summer. “Monogamy” has over seven thousand plays in only a few days now thanks to the Zayn/One Direction bump. Pillow Talk are currently finishing writing and demoing before recording their debut full-length for Animal Style Records at Panda Studios upcoming.

You can stream “Monogamy” below and the track is available for name-your-price download on Bandcamp.

The band have one show on the horizon on March 18th in Nashville at The End with Have Mercy, A Will Away and Daisyhead. Facebook Events page here.

Animal Style recently released the new EP from Pillow Talk in 2014. The What We Should Have Said 12″ EP is available for order now. The band recently did an Audiotree session which can now be viewed below.

Pillow Talk started as a side project between vocalist Josh Cannon and guitarist Calvin Lauber, though it became immediately clear to them that the project was worth developing into something more substantial. The band displays their new sound on What We Should Have Said. Though their debut EP Recreational Feelings exhibits a certain sinister beauty, this five-song follow-up reveals a band that has teased their sound into something bigger and bottomless—more sinister, more beautiful. “This new EP is the first sight of the path we plan to follow musically,” Lauber says, “delving into lush soundscapes, modulated ambient guitar sounds, and catchy vocal melodies, we found influence from 80s bands such as The Cure, The Smiths, and My Bloody Valentine.”
