Song Premiere: Johnny Manna – “Here Lies Hope”

We are excited to bring you a song premiere from Johnny Manna. “Here Lies Hope” is a tune from the singer/songwriter out of New York. Originally released an acoustic track on the singer’s debut The World Won’t Take Me Back, here the song is entirely re-imagined with a full band, allowing for the singer’s natural rasp and break to his voice to have other walls surrounding it than just an acoustic guitar. “Here Lies Hope” is now a song that lives to its name, howling with an empowering might through the song’s choruses while the verses maintain ominous. The song’s origin had to deal with Manna having to overcome the loss of his grandmother, and the eerie mood lends itself to the thought of something much bigger just around the corner.

The World Won’t Take Me Back had major themes of loss, including of life, innocence and overall touch with world. Johnny Manna uses “Here Lies Hope” to continue to help get through life, saying, “The song pretty much stresses how excuses never help in the long run and that things will eventually work out if you can fight through the feeling of loss of innocence and the stresses that come with it.”
