New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth the exclusive video premiere of “Not So Bad” by Pollyanna. The song has a gradual build that unleashes into a cathartic emotionally spill. While riding this crescendo, the band create a delicate atmosphere that is carried by its touching lyrics.
“‘Not So Bad’ is simply a love song that explains the concept of trust, compassion and most importantly equal love in a relationship. I wrote every word in this song with my heart full and every line I wrote meant something important to me.
The music video is meant to be about how the world feels and looks completely different when you are with your true love, no matter where it is or where you are. The whole world is magical when it’s with that person. In the beginning it shows a girl who is living her daily life, commuting on a train, and getting through the day herself. The shots are in black and white to reflect how the world looks when alone. It is supposed to show the dullness of her surroundings and her life itself. When the other girl comes in (the girl’s significant other) all of the shots are in vibrant color to compare how the world looks and feels when being with that other person, even if it’s in the same place that you were alone in. It compares how beautiful the world looks when you are alone versus when you are with your true love through the use of black and white and color.” – Jill Beckett
Pollyanna is a Central Jersey based indie-rock ‘poptimist’ duo consisting of lead singer and guitarist Jill Beckett and drummer Dan McCool. Their name, deriving from the definition “unreasonably or illogically optimistic,” showcases the band’s fun and playful yet driven nature. Combining dreamy synths and raw, poetic lyrics with modern indie rock influences, Pollyanna has won over a following in the New Jersey music scene. With a drive beyond people of their age, they’re leaving a unique mark in the music industry starting right now.
