Video Premiere: Stray Monroe – “Seaside”

Stray Monroe

New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth the light but uplifting premiere of “Seaside” by Stray Monroe. The track blends a bit of indie pop with bubbly post-punk, creating an atmosphere that is groove driven but capable of bringing an infectious hook as well. The video showcases the trio playing the track in a few different places, but feels like a vintage 70’s promo. Take a listen below!

“We wrote ‘Seaside’ for anyone who feels like their the outcast. It’s really easy to get down on yourself when you don’t fit it, but it’s important to always remember everything is momentary and things will change. The video is all about not taking yourself too seriously and finding humor in the little things. We wanted to make a video that was different from anything we had done before and something that showcased our true personalities. We don’t take ourselves too seriously but we take our music seriously.” – Stray Monroe

Having played with The Academic and Weathers, received airplay on 91X FM and Rock 105.3FM and being featured on Spotify Official playlist ‘Fresh Finds’, indie rockers Stray Monroe return with VHS style ‘Seaside’ music video, dropping June 27th. Filmed using an old school VHS camera to give it a retro-vibe, the trio wanted to make a video that looks like it came straight from your parent’s collection of VHS tapes from the 1980s.

Blurring the lines between pop and indie rock, San Diego’s Stray Monroe pride themselves on their high energy and humble nature, taking influence from the likes of The Strokes, Oasis and Mac Demarco. Although the San Diego music scene is a heavily surf rock influenced, the trio have more of an indie sound and say they “don’t care what anyone else thinks!”

With a desire to push the boundaries of popular music and leave a positive impact on everyone that listens, Blake Imperl (vocals/guitar), Brett Kelly (bass), Colin Croft (drums) will have you reminiscing about the times when life was simple and care-free.
