We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of The Temperance Movement’s new song “White Bear” (listen below), the title track from their upcoming album out July 15th through Fantasy Records.

Recorded in the legendary Rockfield Studios in one session “the song is about obsession, it’s about addictive behavior that can get you into trouble and it’s about getting a shock and a wake-up call,” explains frontman Phil Campbell. The title is inspired by psychological experiments in thought suppression after a quote from Dostoevsky’s Winter Notes on Summer Impressions: “Try to pose for yourself this task: not to think of a polar bear, and you will see that the cursed thing will come to mind every minute.”

The Temperance Movement will be flying back to the U.S. for this year’s Ride Festival in Telluride, Colorado, where they will join Pearl Jam, Cage The Elephant and 10,000 rock fans for a weekend of mile high antics before heading off for a headlining tour that announces the arrival of White Bear. Further dates for the fall will be announced soon. “A lot of times the first half of a gig is warming the crowd up and getting them on your side but those gigs in the States, even though we were still relatively unknown there, it felt like the crowd was with us from the first note,” said Phil Campbell. “We’re very excited to play the new stuff for people. It’s a great moment for us.”
