Mark Aceves, of Bay Area veterans Zed, is stepping out on his own with his new project called Aceves. His new album, Magnum Dopus, is due out tomorrow from I:AND:I Recordings, but you get a taste of it a day early. With a classic, down-and-dirty rock and roll sound, Magnum Dopus is nine tracks of straightforward rock ragers that will get caught in your head for days.
“This is my first outing as a solo artist and when I started this whole thing, I had no idea it would become what it has,” explains Mark Aceves about the project. “In fact, I had no idea I could pull it off but I poured my heart into these songs and I think it shows. If I can create something that makes me feel good, that makes me feel empowered and motivated to keep pushing on, or to at least keep looking forward to Friday night and fun times, then maybe it might make other people feel that way too. If someone can forget the problems of the world for three minutes and just feel like shaking their ass or bobbing their head, then I consider that a win.”
