Album Premiere: From Beyond These Walls – The Dawn

From Beyond These Walls

Based on a friendship between Jeff Ulbrich (Death Pose, Rhone, Lucid Ground), and Erik Kikke (Avernus), forged out of a mutual love for horror films, their soundtracks, and their directors—such as John Carpenter, Dario Argento, and David Cronenberg—Chicago post-rock project From Beyond These Walls was born. The project is notable for its instrumental, atmospheric soundscapes that are truly epic, utilizing guitars, synthesizers, and drum machines. Drummer Jake Ennis (Rhone, Light the King) and bassist James Genenz (Jungle Rot, Avernus) would eventually join to round out the group into a four-piece. Their debut EP The Clear was released in 2018, and it’s been a long wait for them to follow up with their debut LP.

But that weight is finally over, as today From Beyond These Walls debut their first full-length release The Dawn. With sweeping, epic post-rock compositions complete with shoegaze-esque fuzzy, distorted guitars, The Dawn is a rock explosion that creates a distinctive mood. This album is a colossal achievement, and you can check out the whole thing below.
