Hudson, New York crust/sludge band HUSH are sharing their third full-length album, The Pornography Of Ruin. Look no further—You can stream the entire album right here at New Noise.
HUSH first came on the scene in 2014, issuing albums through the likes of Dullest Records, Silent Pendulum Records, Fuzz Records, Sludgelord Records, along with a number of independent releases. In the years since their last album, Untitled II, the band went through a number of lineup shifts that led to limited live outings, though they chose to use this time to focus on the music and making their follow-up record.
Founding member Jordan Cozza built a recording studio in a barn in Hudson to accomplish this, and the group soon after began shaping songs to continue the conversation they started with HUSH’s inception.
The Pornography Of Ruin is HUSH’s first release to be engineered in the newly constructed studio, HOVVL Audio Environment. The album showcases a more expanded view of the band’s sound, featuring more melodic elements, intense and dynamic shifts, along with previously explored vocal and atmospheric textures with each track.
Thematically, it focuses on the concepts of personal destruction and transformation, heavily drawing from vocalist/lyricist Charles Cure’s experience after a 2016 car accident which left him hospitalized and unable to walk for several months.
In support of the new LP, HUSH are also playing their first handful of live shows since 2018. The day of the album’s release, they are heading out on a five-city run of East Coast shows, from June 24-28, with their friends Cowardice. They’re also playing their first local show in several years, at Catskill, New York on July 8.
