Album Premiere: Monoscopes – Endcyclopedia

Monoscopes

Say hello to Monoscopes. This Italian band was founded by Paolo Mioni, a former member of the band Jennifer Gentle and one of the great talents of the Italian psychedelic scene, and they’ve already started to make a name for themselves for fusing psychedelic rock with pop melodies.

Today, Monoscopes are premiering their latest album Endcyclopedia, which comes out tomorrow on Big Black Car Records. On Encyclopedia, Monoscopes seamlessly meld psychedelic rock with pop, with a touch of the Velvet Underground in their particular brand of guitar-based pop.

Encyclopedia should be read like an old poem, as it starts with an invocation to the muse and ends with the dive into madness, and eventual death, of the protagonist,” explains Mioni about the album. “The journey includes tales of loss and redemption, certainty and doubt, a flood and a suicide attempt. We tried to provide the music to go with all this, going from psychedelic noise rides to skewed power pop, through all points in between.”
