Paris, France’s renowned metal quintet Point Mort are back with the long-anticipated follow-up to their 2022 album Pointless… The group are known for incorporating everything under the sun into their unique metal blend, and their new album, Le Point De Non-Retour (which translates to The Point of No Return, if that wasn’t obvious), incorporates pop, post-metal, post-hardcore, popcore, and just some outright experimental elements. It’s a bizarre melting pot of styles that somehow works perfectly and gives the album an amazing power and a surprising depth.
“Like our previous album, the musical composition, though complex remains primal and instinctive,” explains vocalist Sam Pillay. “The alternation of gentle and violent passages is always present, but we’ve borrowed freely from other styles such as pop, electro and rap and explored new sounds and harmonies too. Electronic music features heavily on this album, with long passages featuring synthesizers. Le point de non-retour is an introspective album about the road travelled, defiance, anamorphosis, wear and tear on body and mind. We’re not trying to reassure the reader or give them hope and light. We’re just passing through.”
Le Point De Non-Retour is out tomorrow on Almost Famous Records, but you get to hear it today right here at New Noise. Check it out below.
