Since their formation in 2016, Milwaukee act Sex Scenes have been wowing audiences with their signature hardcore style that incorporates thrash riffs and catchy hooks, creating a unique style that had led to the band being able to play shows with everyone from Weedeater to Jack White without sounding out of place. While the band’s lineup has shifted over the years, having Sarah Turbo on lead vocals since 2021 has really helped them create a more dynamic sound that shines through on their first EP with Turbo, 2023’s Fed Up.
Today, the band are debuting the first full-length LP with Turbo on vocals, Everything Makes Me Sick, which comes out on Big Neck Records today. A raging hardcore album with its heart on its sleeve, Turbo’s earnest, passionate vocals really bring home the emotional content at the heart of this album.
“When we were recording Everything Makes Me Sick, we really only had one goal in mind: We really wanted it to sound like us live,” explains Sex Scenes guitarist Harrison Colby. “We didn’t want anything to get watered down or sterilized in the recording process. Sex Scenes performances have always been a catharsis, and that’s what makes us excited about making music in this band. We worked really hard to capture that intensity.”
