Album Premiere: St. Morris Sinners – ‘Zbilanc’

Adelaide, Australia alt-rock band St. Morris Sinners are sharing their new sophomore album, Zbilanc, and you can check it out right here, premiering at New Noise.

St. Morris Sinners are celebrated from their unflinching approach to music, often blending powerful punk, blues, and avant-garde influences.

The band are no strangers to success, signing with the HOT PANTS Productions and performing globally and nationally alongside bands like King Khan & BBQ Show, Tex Perkins, Spencer P. Jones, Kim Salmon, The Monkey Wrench, and Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds.

Their previous debut album, Songs About Insects, heavily traversed the blues space, though the four-piece are now embracing their avant-garde tendencies with the new album. The 11 tracks of Zbilanc dive headfirst into the concept of imbalance, with sonic, lyrical, and emotional layers that remain charming and unpredictable.

According to a quote from the band, “’Zbilanc’ is the Maltese word for ‘imbalance,’ which speaks to the heritage of lead singer Stephen Johnson. The concept of the album plays with the theme of imbalance; one side is disjointed, raucous, raw and primal in its delivery, while the other side is heartfelt, sombre and honest in its approach.”
