Boston rockers Diablogato are back with their gritty EP, Snake Oil Salvation, releasing November 1 via Rum Bar Records. This record serves as an anthem for our times—dark, unfiltered, and packed with punk rock fury. It blends rockabilly and Southern blues, offering a raw reflection of a world in chaos.
Last spring, the band pulled us into their single “Lost Highway,” a dreamlike journey where reality blurred. Now, with Snake Oil Salvation, Diablogato thrusts us into a harsher reality, confronting society’s shadows and our personal struggles. The EP captures vulnerability and resilience, embodying both grit and hope for those seeking redemption.
The EP opens with “Heavens Gate,” a high-energy track with a darker undercurrent that explores strange paths in search of something greater. Next, “Fire and Powder” tells a tale of dangerous, all-consuming love. Finally, “Wandering Hearts” emerges as an anthem for lost souls and drifters trying to find their way home.
As frontman Drew Indingaro puts it:
“‘Snake Oil Salvation’ felt like the perfect way to sum up what we’re living through right now—slick talkers, false promises, people chasing something that may just be smoke and mirrors. We wanted to mix grit with a glimmer of hope, call out the lies, and still find redemption somewhere in the mess. This isn’t just rock n’n roll; it’s survival.”
Across its six tracks, Snake Oil Salvation weaves between defiance, heartbreak, and the search for meaning. The ambitious final track, “July 1969,” reflects on the fallout from the infamous Chappaquiddick incident, using it as a backdrop to explore guilt and the consequences of past mistakes. With guest vocals from Noelle LeBlanc, the song delivers a powerful look at how regret can follow us long after everyone else has moved on.
For Diablogato, this EP goes beyond just music, as drummer Jesse Von Kenmore explains:
“This record is our answer to the darkness we’ve seen in recent years—It’s real; it’s intense, and it’s our raw reaction. Each song is a piece of us, reflecting the fight to hold on and the honesty we need to face what’s happening around us.”
Recorded at PunchDance Studios and mixed at Blue Banshee Studios, Snake Oil Salvation is the product of a band putting every ounce of themselves into their music. With a sound that defies easy classification, Diablogato’s latest promises to be one of the most compelling releases of 2024—an unfiltered look at a world trying to claw its way to salvation.
