Since the release of their debut EP, 2017’s Pathways, Kentucky post-hardcore outfit Softspoken have made waves, with a mesmerizing and introspective balance of tenacious post-hardcore and resonant alternative rock.
New Noise are proud to premiere the group’s newest EP, Where The Heart Belongs, in full below:
Sidelined but not stifled by COVID-19, Softspoken have returned to the studio and to their roots. Where the Heart Belongs is a mature and dexterous collection, nodding to the band’s heavier early output while also delivering insightful lyricism and seasoned melodies across five accomplished new tracks.
On the release of the EP, vocalist Sam Scheuer states:
“Where the Heart Belongs is about personal growth and the relationships that we surround ourselves with—both tangible and intangible. It’s ‘realization meets enlightenment.’
The title of the EP represents this overall message. That is, the realization that one’s ‘home’ is all that ever mattered. A sense of belonging is healing, and time wasted somewhere you don’t belong—somewhere your heart shouldn’t be—is painful. The journey of getting there, to your ‘home,’ is what makes your story.”
