The Things of Youth releases its new EP, People Like Us (Parks and Records), on November 21, 2025.
Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, The Things of Youth (aka Jon Fee) has been active in the indie community since the early noughties. Fee played bass in and fronted the beloved Bay Area indie rockers The Rum Diary and post-rockers Shuteye Unison, curated the seminal Translation Music compilations, and founded indie-eco label Parks and Records.
The Things of Youth has been genre surfing since 2015, blending a range of styles, including indie-rock, post-punk, dream pop, and folk to create atmospheric and emotionally charged music. The act has collaborated with musicians/bands up and down the West Coast, including Judah from The Velvet Teen, Josh from The New Trust, Portland’s “hired gun” pianist Cory Gray, and more.
For the EP, Fee taps his 15-year-old son Charlie for drums, and together they push into the heavier side of The Things of Youth. There is still a lot of genre surfing on this record, which provides a wide range of ear candy, from angsty indie anthems to more experimental pop gems. Heck, there’s even a collab with FUGAZI.
